Ms.Illapu Mani ScholarshipMs.Illapu Mani is an A+ student in 10th grade received 9.5 GPA (out of 10, new system introduced this year). She is the second of three daughters born to parents of farm-workers. The eldest sister dropped out of school after 12th grade because her parents couldn't afford. Ms.Mani's dreams shattered when she was asked to follow the same route of her elder sister. During this summer, she worked hard in the fields and even worked for Rural Employment scheme for a daily wage of Rs.155 (Approx. $3) to support her family. Luckily, Ms.Mani was a student of one of Siri foundation volunteers and our team quickly decided to support her higher education. She has a passion for agriculture and presented innovative projects at the National Children Science congress two years in a row and winner of district science congress.

Ms.Illapu Mani will receive Rs.15, 000 (or $300)/ year to pay 100% tuition fee for a Diploma in Agriculture. This is just a beginning and a small step from hunger to hope. We are not done yet; this story from Siri volunteers was so inspiring that her teachers at old school decided to support her monthly boarding fees directly from their salaries. She will also receive Rs.2, 100/month for her boarding. Who knows one day she could be part of the solution in world hunger relief!  We are proud to support education at the grassroots level.
