Govt. Institute of Electronics
Special project 2024
GIOE Restoration Project Started on 11 May, 2024 - Completed on 1 November, 2024
- last updated : 21 Dec, 2024
The Government Institute of Electronics (GIOE), established in 1981 in East Marredpally, Secunderabad, Telangana, India, has proudly served the community for over 40 years. However, its once-vibrant auditorium had fallen into disrepair. The stage was worn, the flooring, roof, and seating were damaged, and the ambiance no longer reflected GIOE's dynamic spirit. Additionally, the ladies' toilets and drinking water facilities were in poor condition, requiring urgent repairs to ensure safety and functionality.
Recognizing the need for action, the GIOE Alumni Committee reached out to Srini Chintala, founder of the Siri Foundation and a 1988 GIOE alumnus, for support. Mr. Thatha Rao, also from the 1988 batch, represented the Siri Foundation and worked closely with the Alumni Committee to successfully complete the project.
The remarkable dedication of Mr. Rambabu (87' Batch), a key member of the ad-hoc Alumni Committee, was instrumental in the project’s success. He worked tirelessly on the ground every single day, overseeing operations and ensuring every detail was executed flawlessly. Beyond his hands-on efforts, Mr. Rambabu and the ad-hoc team launched an extensive awareness campaign, inspiring and rallying support from all batches to contribute to the cause. Together, their commitment led to the successful completion of the project in just six months.
Mr. Thatha and Mr. Rambabu ensured the careful allocation of funds, prioritizing the auditorium's restoration and essential infrastructure improvements, including the renovation of girls' toilets, and drinking water facilities. Their prudent management also saved ₹5.9 lakhs, which will now support future educational scholarships through the Siri Foundation.
